Protect Me from What Is Imperfect depicts guns, cameras, and the human body to explore ideas about what protection means in our modern day. The work seeks to both expand upon notions and sensations of safety while conversely underscoring a pervasive invasion of privacy that has become normalized. Something as straightforward as a gun, a symbol known for provoking destruction, serves as a vehicle of deception, justifying surveillance. We are forced to confront the weight of our perverse spectatorship in the face of violence and cameras alike, often blanketed by the spectacle of normalcy, community, or liberation.
